Could be either - have to make a plan using different transport from Cockfosters (Barnet) to Chembakolli - so could be a mixture?? Think the nearest airport is prob in Bangalore?

Are you asking us to do your DD's homework for her?

so you need tourist places around Chembakolli, which is soutern India. There's a Meenakshi Temple here in that region.

No, not asking for you to do my dd homework - just asking for relevant web sites!
Don't really need tourist attractions, just help with viable transport ideas from Bangalore to Chembakolli??

You only learnt about this homework now?
You cant be bothered to research so you are asking mumsnetters to do it? Because we might have nothing better to do, sitting here? As it were?

No, she just wants a bit of a hand with something that turned out to be quite tricky, and she does want to get on with having a nice birthday morning with her dd. If there is no one sitting round with nothing better to do, she won't get any replies but it doesn't do any harm to ask, does it? And in case you hadn't noticed, we live in a multicultural, and also well travelled society, so maybe someone could help at the drop of a hat!

What's the big deal??!

Had a look, it's ridiculously difficult to find out how to do the end of the journey, isn't it??! And I reckon its far more in depth task than was originally intended (looking at the QCA scheme for that topic), so I think it would be fine to just say "local Bus" for the last leg of the journey as it is a common form of transport in Rural India. Hope you gave up ages ago and are having a nice day.

And, Squeakypop, at least chappas and dd are actually bothering to try to get the homework done. Although why Primary school children need to do homework I will always fail to understand.
I never had to, didn't stop me getting to Cambridge University to do Sciences. Oh yeah, and I'm a teacher.

I don't see the problem with a parent helping a child with homework. And I don't see the problem with using the internet either, as long as the child learns something along the way.

And it is actually quite a tricky assignment.

I would say look at the British Airways website for the exact connections for flights, and then for the last leg of the journey, local bus as Pineneedles suggests, or local taxi (negotiating price first of course).

Hi Pineneedles, thanks - you have just restored my faith after reading the rant from a rather bitter sounding mumsnet! - we have just decided to leave it as fly to mumbai, train to udagamandalam, bus to gudalvr and cycle to chembakolli - like you say, life is a bit to short - and after 2 ½ hours on this we have had enough! and all want to go and enjoy our youngest daughters birthday! Thanks for you input - greatly appreciated - enjoy the rest of your sunday.xx

Well done, teacher ought to be impressed with that!

Thanks, and you too!
