Easter Holiday Dates?

Lancs schools break up Fri 18/3 and go back Mon 4/4 and I was assuming that was universal (except for areas that have gone on to 5 terms or whatever) but have just discovered that Herts break up on Good Friday (25/3) and go back on Mon 11/4 - presumably in an attempt to even out the length of the terms.

So, just out of interest, when are everybody else's dates, please?

ours break up on the 24th and go back the 11th,very confusing as there's an inset day on the 18th so everyone assumed the school finished on the 17th and a lot of people booked fly tickets for then,me included, the school didn't give us the right information

Ha ha ha! I asked this question months ago on here, and you gave me a really helpful website with all the LEAs on it Janh! (Which I have referred to loads of times since - thank you!)

Cumbria break up 24 March and go back Mon 11 April. This seemed to be more common in my survey.

Oxfordshire are doing something completely barmy, like (from memory) having the Easter bank holidays off, but then going back to school and breaking up on 1 April for a fortnight.

Thanks everybody, esp roisin for giving me my own link back ! Quite a few LEAs are doing the last-minute break-up, then.

Essex are doing the same as Oxford - I found out last month when I discovered the theatre in Harlow had its half term kids' shows the wrong week for Herts Primary Times - they have Easter weekend off and then 2 weeks mid-April. That actually seems like a really sensible arrangement to me, roisin; as YG says it avoids 2 impossibly long half-terms and means they can all have nice cheap holidays then if they want .

Well, we break up on thursday 24/3 and go back thursday 7/4, but thats because we than have 28 and 29/4 off for our Greek Easter. It's an awful lot easier for us when they coincide a bit more!

I booked flights for my kids to go to italy for the 2 weeks over easter and then found out that Essex have changed it this year - GRRRR! Sod them, I'm not cancelling the holiday.

We have Good Friday and Easter Monday off - back to school on the Tuesday.

We then have a "2-week Spring Holiday" - they finish on 8 April and go back on 25 April

Hello donk!!!

Bad luck about the flights - bet they would have been cheaper later too, warmer weather as well - would it cost a lot to change them?

it is possible to change them, but it would cost more than the flights cost originally IYKWIM. Was a logistical nightmare in the first place, no way am I changing it!

Bum.

Are you going too or just them? Hope you/they have a great time - not long to wait anyway!

(Have you been to Spain yet?)

DS's school (he started in pre-school yesterday) is off from March 23 to April 20th - almost a month. Bloody private schools.

Azure-DD breaks up on March 18th and doesn't go back until April 18th. Her current private school follows the LEA holiday regs, the new one (different part of the country) doesn't!

I wonder what will happen if we all suddenly shift to fixed April holidays...

DS2's 12th birthday is on April 15 and this will only be the second one he has ever had during term-time so he is quite pleased!

Oh, another April 8th birthday here as well. Same term dates as Jan but with inset days tagged on either end
