Where do you sew a nametape in a fully reversible rugby shirt?

The shirt is red and black, and the nametapes are white.

Any ideas?

Down at the waist... in ds' rugby shirts the washing labels are down on the waist hem at one side.... I generally sew the name tag there

Oh God I didn't even think of this. I've already sewn DD1's label in the neck of hers in the usual place already

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Will it be covered by the collar anyway Pesto?

DS has one of these and I too put it in the neck. He didn't mind - so did most of the other mums!

I had more trouble labelling the Rugby socks!

We are told to label all PE kit on the outside.

Yes, if you sew it at the base of the collar, it's hidden when the collar's turned down. It doesn't really matter anyway, no-one's really going to worry what a rugby shirt looks like.

I could follow all the mn advice and sew it in the neck, at the base of the collar, an armpit, and at the waist!

No consensus for once on here

base of collar. The reversibility is just for ease of sorting out teams in the school (reds v blacks) without resorting to bibs isn't it? So the school would usually play in its proper colcour for matches v other schools?
As for Rugby socks I go for the sole of the foot (anywhere else is too stretchy)

With socks, I used to fold the name tape in half & sew the open end to the ribbed top - so it's under the turnover.

I'm dreadful at getting round to this at all - you all sound very professional

It takes me ages to sew on a single nametape, but his new uniform all seems to be very low heat iron, so I can't use the iron-on ones that I have

I think sew-on labels look much nicer/neater, it's just that I sew very slowly!

We have to have giant name tapes, in house colours, that we sew on the outside of the shirt - so one on each side.

My boys' reversible shirts are just for games lessons. The actual matches with other schools have hooped shirts, provided by the school.

Ours default to red mostly so I put it that side.

I write my sons names on his in perm marker - they are only for training as they get match shirts.

Rustybear is the winner: base of the collar is hidden whichever way round it is worn.

Thanks all

at my school we had places where they had to be. on rugby shirts it was base of neck under the collar i think.

am intrigued - where is the washing label?

Report
Flightlite · 20/08/2008 19:10

Does it have any pockets? I'd put it in there - that seems to be where the labels are on ds's dungas.
