How old is the child.

These are national curriculum levels, level 2c is just about getting a level 2, level 2b is secure level 2 and 2a means working towards a level 3.

dd2 6 and dd1 7

dd2 got 2x2a and 1x2b

dd1 got 2x2c and 1x1c for reading (very sore spot with her)

my son just got his through, they are supposed to reach just a 2 (which would be national average) by the age of 7, then if they get a 2c then they have done a bit better, if they get a 2a, they are above the national average for there age, which means they are doing very well, and if they get a 3 (that would be the equivelent to someone already finishing year 3) which means they would be exceptionally clever for there age.

I hope this reads well.

SATS scores 2 c-a is the normal range for end of year 2.

Iliketosleep- dd 2 has actually done "better" according to the tests; but they only ever tell a portion of the picture. It's like the blind men and the elephant. I'm sure both of them are talented in lots of ways which pen and paper tests don't recognise.

Does dd1 get extra help with reading? does the school offer reading recovery or something similar?

Yes she does get help with it. I notice that when we sit down to read her mind seems somewhere else all the time, like she can't be bothered to do it at all. Didn't realise things were that bad though to be honest......

Don't start to panic; it just sounds as if she finds the reading harder from some reason so I just wondered if she was getting help from the school.

If her tests were done using the Yr3 SATS, then they are (I think) signficantly harder than the Yr 2 materials, so we have had some children appearing to have gone backwards rather than forwards during Yr3 if that makes sense?!
