School says DS2 has a library book out, and they want it back or they want £5.00

Since starting at this school DS2 has only brought one library book home, which went back. School say he has another (they have a fingerprint recognition thing for taking books out). DS2 says he is sure he scanned the book back in. It's definately not at home. It's not in his drawer at school. I'm not paying £5.00 for a book I haven't lost, or haven't even had at home in the first place.

Go in to the library and look for it?

I'd go in and tell them you def haven't got it. Schools do make mistakes - just tell 'em

I think you need to ask the librarian to double check the shelves...and it might be worth double checking DS desk/locker...

At my Ds school we have a thumbprint system where they have to check books in and out using a computer that reads their unique thumbprint . May be you could suggest this to the school after they have found the book and apologised to you . LOL
