My kids are at state school but I think this idea is ridiculous.

Yes or no poll below please.

Not fussed about reasons but give them if you like.

Stupid idea - I have children in state school and can not for the world of me see how abolishing private schools is going to put loads of money into state education or even equal up life opportunities! Even abolishing the tax breaks is a stupid idea as it will push even more children into the state sector - where will money come from to fund that? Many specialist SEN schools are privately run. In addition lots of the private boarding schools have significant numbers of children from overseas - their parents will take the children and money elsewhere. Finally there are plenty of children from military families who use boarding schools (admittedly some are in state subsidised boarding schools) where will their children go?

The only thing I do agree with is that certain higher education institutions should be doing more to even up their intake of students between state and privately educated. And that we should be doing more to offer the same sorts of opportunities in state schools that private schools offer.

No.

The private school where I live is the highest employer in the area.

No

No.

I feel quite strongly against Private Schools in principle, but this policy is crazy. You can't just cease to take away a choice along with THEFT of private assets.

No. It's literally communism to steal private assets.

Interesting all of you are no.
I know not many people but still.

Travelban Fri 27-Sep-19 07:19:50

No.

If we condone stripping privately owned assets, we effectively open the door for a communist regime and all that entails.

Do I think they have people's best interests at heart? No.

They strike me as fuelled by hate and inciting hatred.

lumpy76 Fri 27-Sep-19 07:55:39

@Travelban completely agree - they are a communist led party now and have a would be chancellor who would (quote) "like to create a socialist utopia" I say this as someone who voted labour in the past.

Not going to happen. They might aspire to get rid of private schools but they're not completely daft enough to actually do it.

No. I haven't and wouldn't choose it for my children for many reason and think the system is a massive cause of inequality and the idiots who think they are born to rule are part of that problem - but I strongly beleive people should have the choice to choose where to educate their children and the problem should be remedied by properly funding state education and opportunity so people can't buy privilege by using them.

No. No government should have a right of confiscation.

No. Smoke screen for avoiding state schools.
