Hi, this is so cheeky but I'm soooo nearly finished my portfolio for NVQ3 TA. But I'm totally stuck on a question for supporting behavioural, social and emotional needs.

The question is, explain the meaning of the following strategies you might employ to support a pupil:
Negotiation
Diffusion and de-escalation
positive handling
recovery

It only has to be a sentence on each but I'm totally, totally stuck, have been googling and looking in the ta's handbook but nothing..... any help greatly received

Negotiation - if you do this I will let you do this as a consequence

Diffusion and de-escalation - leave the situation that is causing difficulties and focus on another

Positive handling - praising the positives, not focussing on the negative e.g. you did this really well, can you do this really well too?

Recovery - this situation is now over and we're moving on with something else

Sorry if it's a bit waffly, I'm a bit out of practice. I'm sure someone will be along soon with better ideas. Good luck with with yur course

Kate100 you're a star, that's just perfect and I get it completely

Have to hand this whole thing in tomorrow, thankfully had a day off today but I'm still cutting it fine...oh I'm just so organised, who wouldn't want to employ me?
