Review of Marking?

Has anybody had any reviews of marking back either as a teacher or parent? Interested in AQA English in particular. Also, teachers what is your policy about reviews? School pays? Department pays? Student pays? Depends? TIA

What do you mean by reviews of marking? Do you mean have a GCSE or A level re-marked to see if the grade changes?

Exam boards no longer offer re-marks. They're now called a review of marking. In theory marks only change where there is evidence that the examiner has misapplied the mark scheme. In practice, it's not worked quite like this.

We had DS's rs reviewed as one mark off an 8 (got a 7). We paid. Stayed the same. Edexcel.

Friend had AQA physics done. 4 marks off stayed the same.

They do a clerical check ie. Checking of addition and that correct marks are added in. Also a check that graded witbin rhe correct criteria boundaries so they are not fully remarked and far less likely to change this year.

We thought it was worth a punt as it was just 1 mark away but it was not to be.

We had maths done as one mark off a 4, stayed the same.

DS2 went up 3 marks to an A* last year in an iGCSE. The same applied insofar as it wasn’t a full re-mark.

Student (or rather parent!) pays.

Ok so that means I have heard of no adjustments at all this year. I know they were tightening it up and of course the 9-1 grade boundarkes are very close on some papers
