I expect it varies slightly between counties but in my area the following happened after we'd accepted:

  1. they invited the parents for an evening meeting where they gave you a booklet about the school and told you which class your child would be in.

  2. they invited the children in during July for a 'stay and play' with their teacher and other children from their new class

  3. The teacher came out on a home visit the week before school started to meet the child and introduce themselves.

    So probably something like that.

My kids school do home visits. It's lovely, my kids really liked being able to show their teachers their toys and it meant they were relaxed. Weirdly my son chose to go and get his children's bible to show his teacher. We aren't religious and it's not usually looked at so they prob went away with a slightly skewed perception of us
