Does anybody know what percentage for an A, B, C etc?

There isn’t a set figure.

The exams marked and the results plotted on a bell curve, which determines the pass mark and then the grades.

So it varies with each exam.

This should be explained to pupils.

I did my highers a long time ago... however I’m sure 40 as a C, 55 was a B and 70 was an A.

I can’t remember if it varied for subjects?

If you google 'SQA grade boundaries' you can find spreadsheets for the last few years (since Highers changed). It varies year on year, but gives a rough idea.

It varies from subject to subject and from year to year, as PPs have said.
