Independent (co-ed?) secondary schools for Woking area

Hi there
Moving to this area (from abroad) and looking for advice for an independent secondary school for my children (one girl and one boy).
Co-ed would be preferred but would maybe consider single sex.
All advice appreciated.
Many thanks

There are quite a few single sex schools in the area (and no independent secondary schools in Woking itself). Probably the closest co-eds are St Georges in Weybridge, St John's Leatherhead or King Edward's, Witley.

Thanks for your reply. I have seen St George's but will look at those others as well.

Not sure of the state options either at this stage as house isn't sorted........Chobham area probably so I guess Winston Churchill or Woking High?

Thanks for your response.

Woking High might be possible from Chobham, but it depends on exactly where. Although as an in year you might be lucky. It would be outside the Winston Churchill priority area. Of course if you lived more towards Sunningdale you'd be in the Charter's priority area. If you lived in South Woking and your DC are year 9 or younger then you could look at Hoe Valley School, which will move into its new buildings in September.
If you were Catholic you could try St John the Baptist.
For in year applications you could try whichever you want, and it depends on vacancies, and grounds to appeal. The LAs (Surrey CC) have to give you a place somewhere, but it might well be Bishop David Brown.

BDB is supposed to be fab according to a lot of my friends.

I just know that it's on the way up, but not that highly rated by students at Woking College. It would also be a pain to get to from Chobham.

Yes that would be the main problem.

I believe there's a school bus to Woking High from chobham.

BDB may be on the up but it is so far down it is very badly regarded. Woking High and SJB are the best around Woking. Hoe Valley is definitely worth a look great looking new school and highly rated.
St George’s, St Johns for co-ed. Single sex schools Reeds, St Cats, GHS lots more depending on academic ability.

Thanks for all these messages. Plenty to think about - much appreciated.
I am Catholic as it happens but my children are not (we are abroad and not in a Christian country so I didn't bother.....too much hard work!) so SJB might be out of the question.

Thanks again to the posters above.Smile

Could be worth a punt on SJB, unlikely but I have known unlikely people get in.
