Hockerill and Brexit

Hi there. I have a feeling there are a few Hockerill parents on here and I would really appreciate your views on the impact that a hard Brexit is likely to have on the school?
DD1 has just been offered a day place, which would mean that we would also be planning to send DD2 there in 3yrs time. This involves a house move for us as we are not local so it is a fairly big deal (not that choosing a school isn't anyway!). My DH is French and so the European focus and ethos of the school is really key for us.
We went and had another look round the school recently and had a meeting with the head, who was (not surprisingly) keen to play down the likely impact of a hard Brexit on the school. The potential loss of EU boarders would of course be an issue, but I am more worried about a general policy change away from the pro Europe positioning and emphasis on languages. Am I worrying unnecessarily? Thanks for any input (posted in Secondary Ed as well).

As long as the senior management have a vision for the school and the parents have the same expectations I can't see who would want to change the ethos?

I am the parent of two boarders at Hockerill.

The Senior Management team strongly emphasise that it is "business as usual" and that Brexit will not change their policy. The school remains European focused, will continue with the MYP and IB programmes and be a European focused, world leading IB school.

I am not worried.

Harveypuss - I broadly agree with the conclusion but think there will be a bit of an issue if as seems likely children from Europe without UK passport (of which there are many) will not be eligible to attend. Possibly a financial issue with the boarders but more of slight change in the culture with less European students and more UK passport holders making up the difference. Also I am more worried about Theresa MaybeUKIP and her mad group of Brexiters doing something silly like banning the MYP or forcing all schools to offer A levels - take back control and let's have good old British A levels instead of this foreign IB over which we have no say. (Fingers crossed too busy sorting out Brexit.)

Do hope you're wrong about May and the IB Hertsandessex😳, but like you I fear anything is possible 😟

River - I know this isn't the purpose of this thread, but just curious how you got a place? Did your child get a v high score in the aptitude tests or did you qualify under one of the other criteria?

She got an aptitude place - no other way of getting in as we are over an hour away.
