My daughter wants to go to a music school asap, what I'm saying is in six form. she is now year 10 and is very bright. She plays the drum kit, guitar, sings and plays piano. she got her grade 8 distinction at 13 and is working on improving her more percussion skills further. she has been taking xylophone lessons for about 2 months now and is already on grade 7 standard music. she had recently (in the last 3 months) join two concert bands to work on her all around percussion. she is also very academic and I am worried at these music schools she won't get the grades she may need.... she is estimated 11 grade 7/8/9 in all of her GCSE's. she is also very sporty and had no spare time, so it doesn't lead much time for practising. I am really in the dark about what to do? she never has time to practice any of her instruments being out till 11 most nights at bands or some sport.

Ask for your question to be moved into extra-curricular, loads of music posts in that section and knowledgeable people who will be able to help.

I think you need to look at where she wants to go with her career long term and what the pros and cons are of moving vs staying where she is. It sounds like she has a very active musical life already which is great and she is probably well placed to be able to get into one of the music schools or colleges at any point from here really. Also consider looking at things like the national youth orchestra rather than a change of school at this point?
