Ocasional places at JAPS how often do they come up?

Hi, we moved to UK from abroad and we missed 7+ assesement deadline. We were advised to put my daughter's name down on a waiting list for an ocassional place. From why I understood she would be assessed when this place comes up. Does anyone know if these places ever come up? And is the assessment the same as 7+ with all people interested called in on the same day?
Any info will be appreciated.

I think they get a couple of occasional vacancies each year across the whole school. Then it is an assessment along the lines of 7+ and some group activities. Be warned though - the waiting list for occasional places is long and so the number competing for each place is even higher than at actual 7+.

Thanks. Sadly, that does not sound very reassuring.

Sorry. My DD is on the list too and that was what the school told us.

Hi,
It’s been a while since I posted this question. Maybe someone has something new to add? I wonder if there is a realistic chance that that kind of assessment is going to happen in the next few years, or should I just let it go and wait for 11+? It seems to be unlikely that anyone would go through the hassle of 7+ to leave the school after a year or two.

A friend of mine's daughter was called for a chance vacancy assessment. There was one place available and they were assessing 22 girls for the place. They have to call everyone on the chance vacancy list. Yes far more competitive than the 'original' 7+ but the same assessment as far as I know
