Queens College Prep School

Hello! DD has an offer from
Queens College Prep but not sure how feasible it is as the school shuts at 3 pm and has no after school care. I am a full time working mum and haven't used a nanny before. I hear most of the mums in the school are not working, any suggestions ?

you will face this problem at 90% of London prep schools, it is nothing unique to QCPS. You will have to hire a nanny. Even when schools have afterschool care, it's hardly ideal for a 4 year old to sit in the afterschool club till 6 every day. They are really tired and need a break or a playdate or some time in the park. I do know quite a few working mums with kids at QCPS by the way.

Au pairs are cheaper if you only need after school care. We had a coujple of lovely bright young graduates each staying two years, who studied hard and took great care of the children. (Plus a couple of disasters in between, but that is how it goes.) However you also need to think of holiday cover. Some preps do have after school care, but often not for the youngest. Rarely do they "sit". Any good provider will recognise that kids need to relax, let off steam and run around.

Thanks Sanam2010. I was just a bit nervous since haven't had a nanny till now. You mentioned there are quiet a few working mums that would mean they either do flexi hours or have some support. I am currently living in the wharf and also contemplating a move closer to the school. Would you be able to share some popular locations for QCPS parents and whether they have shared nannies as well. Also any views on the school in general? Thanks so much for responding :)
