Shrewsbury School - full boarding?

Can anyone help with clarifying whether Shrewsbury is full boarding and what percentage stay in for the whole weekend?
Looking at this school for DD but it's needs to be full boarding as we live far too far away for popping home even on Saturday pm to Sunday evening.
Thanks

No personal knowledge but I met someone last week who lives overseas and has a DD there, so assume full boarding is adequate at the very least.

Anyone else?

We looked round, but it am doubting my own memory now. I would say full boarding and most stay in. I think there are more exeat weekends than some others (like Oundle) but definitely there are "all in" weekends

Yep - just looked at the website. I am pretty sure that what they call "coach weekends" (because there are school coaches to various cities to make journeys easier) are optional weekends, when some will stay. Exeat weekends everyone goes home. Other weekends everyone stays.

I love nearby
There are loads of them in town at the weekend so assume it has a pretty decent mix of ft boarders!

Thanks all!
We were having serious cold feet on this point so great to be reassured.
Anyone know if there is a London contingent??

Hi.. Very high percentage of boarders stay for weekends. It's not obligatory but most do. 2 Coach weekends on each side of 1/2 term, which works well. No London set (that I know of..) good mix from whole country. Day boarders houses (at present) for the boys. Day girls mixed in 3 girls boarding houses.

Anteater, tks for that. Don't mjns absence of "London set" - much prefer a wide mix! But would be nice if some local ish friends.
I note that bus goes to Heston services - which is hopeful?
Sixth form is pretty large - do you know if there are generally a few from the south east?

Anteater. Thanks for that - a great mix! Very reassuring.
My DD is looking for the 6th form. Don't know what year your DS is - do you know what the mix of 6th form girls is like, someone suggested a large intake of day girls eg from Shrewsbury High which worried me if lots/most were local.
Thanks.

DS will be going into lower sixth in Sept15.
As far as I know the majority of girls are boarders..
You would need to check this up though, probably best to ring one of the housemistresses as you will get direct answers rather than the company line.
Have met 2 of the 3 housemistresses who are both excellent.
3 girls houses, 10 boys houses at present but I think the boys day houses may become mixed..? Leading to perhaps 40% girls? They are still working out what to do with day girls I think.
Hopefully your child, if she goes, will do as well as DS.
