My DD is currently taking part in the NCS, and for their community project they have chosen to campaign to get political education provided to young people prior to them turning 18 and being able to vote.

They feel strongly that they deserve proper knowledge and education about our political system, how our government works at local and national level.

They have come up with a Facebook page and have a petition on change.org aimed at their local council initially, to get a feel for public opinion on this. If successful they plan to take their campaign to a nation level, continuing to work on this long after their NCS has finished.

If you have an opinion on this could you please encourage them via their Facebook page www.facebook.com/OurGenerationVoice and sign their petition. www.change.org/petitions/coventry-city-council-educate-young-people-about-politics?recruiter=125316115&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_mobile

Many thanks.

Great idea. They could finesse their campaign a bit cos teaching about the political system is already mandatory via Citizenship education in maintained schools. Academies, free schools and sixth form institutions aren't subject to the same requirements.
