Year 11 study leave

How long does your child have for study leave?

Ds is yr13 now, but his school were great and kept them at school until May 1/2t term. If the exam hadnt been then the teacher supervised them and helped with whatever they needed. If the subject was finished then they had to sit with a cover supervisor or sometimes teacher and could work on whatever subject they liked.
FAR better than being at home on their own.

DS did GCSEs last year and had no study leave at all.

At my school year 11 don't have study leave.

no study leave that I'm aware of ... just no timetabled classes, but lots of revision sessions

I know the year 11s at DD's school can go on study leave two weeks after the start of Summer term.

But they can go in every day if they like. Or mix and match.

There are revision sessions that everyone seems to attend.

Dd's school don't do study leave anymore. Tbh I think she would be fine at home but I think the revision sessions at school will help her just as much and may be good for her not to be home all day every day by herself. Does mean we need to keep her uniform going a bit longer though It's touch and go.....

Bugger all, they don't let them out until 3 June, DDs first exam is something like 12 may.

Given the two hours a day on the bus, and them not keeping full time table, I suspect there will be days it isn't worth going in and attendance will sulk, tough.

We only have four days study leave. They have not taught the whole curriculum yet therefore they are loading them up with homework every night.

DD had a mini meltdown last night because shes not started revision and feels the Easter holidays are not long enough to prepare before the exams

What do you think? Have your children started revising?

toattly if she had mocks, she should be on top of a good tranche of her revision. So no need to panic.

She did really well in the mocks all A*s. I said on another thread that the teachers have told her to aim for 100% now, and this is where the pressure has come from.

I do think mocks are much easier than the GCSEs because the teachers told them what they need to revise but with GCSEs no one knows what will be on them and they are going to be harder than last years GCSEs especially science and Maths.

Last year study leave started after 1/2 term at my DC's school.

Expecting it to be the same this year, but they don't say in advance to avoid planned 'celebrations'

Study leave is a thing of the past around here. The lessons become more revision based as the exams get closer though so they are revising together.

After May half term here.
DS2 is having lots of after school revision classes although in some subjects they have still a fair bit of curriculum to finish.
He has started revision but not intensively.
He did well in mocks and so seems to have a good idea how much he needs to do.

Dd1 only has about 4 exams after half term, they start on 8th May & for the two weeks before half term she has two exams on at least half the days. She starts study leave on the Friday before the 1st May Bank Holiday. Quite soon considering how late Easter is.
