how much tailor-made are the 11 plus tutor lessons?

As long as I hear from experienced mums, 11 plus tutors have the same lesson plans/test papers for all DSs they teach. In each lesson DCs will do mock tests, check the answers together and be taught how to get the right answers, but tutors do not provide extra materials for the newly found weak points, nor alther the already planned following lessons. Thus it is the parents who neeget the study materials for the weak points and do them with the DC.

Is this the case more or less always? Have any of you got frustrated by the tutor not providing enough tailor-made lessons for your DS??

I don't know about all tutors - but when I began looking into preparing DD for the 11+, I was given the tutoring resources from 3 different children who went to 3 different tutors. The material is all pretty much identical although there are notes addressing areas of weakness which vary from child to child.

In general, schools use exam companies to set the 11+. These companies provide practice packs. Therefore these are what tutors use to get students prepared for that exam.

I used a tutor for a few months to cover an area of the exam which I felt it was out of my ability to teach (I home educate). We discussed what dd would be doing before we started and it did seem to bring dd up to the standard she needed to be in that area.

Does anyone know anything about the 11+ practice day for Guildford schools. My son is sitting the RGS 11+ in January and his friend told him about an 11+ practice exam. I can not find the details on line. Can anyone help as it sounds perfect?
