Y6 ds - label says washable. Cheap(LOL)ish polyester type, not tweedy type.

Should I have washed it by now? Blush

Every half term. DD never seems to get hers dirty. I just wash it to refresh it.

Once a week. It seems to walk itself into the drum of the washing machine.

Why do some of you need to wash them every week? Do your kids wrestle in the mud in them?

I like to get rid of the school smell. And I just think he has worn it for 8 hours a day for 5 days so it could do with it. Grin

The polyester blazers are great - out of the washing machine , on hanger , dry over night.

I managed to get DS to keep the same blazer for 3 years(bought it in Y7 pretty big!!).

However I didn't realise until about 2 years in, that it was washable. ;)

After that I washed it probably once a fortnight, but I found that it did fade the colour a bit.

Dry straight away though - fantastic. I wish we could do that with all clothes, straight out of thewashing machine onto a hanger. Dry with in a few hours.

Once a week. Straight in the washing machine when he gets home from school, then hung up to dry.

OK - it looks clean and doesn't smell yet. Half term in two weeks so I'll do it then. He needs it tomorrow for a match so I can't wash it now.

Another one who washes it every Friday. It would smell otherwise!

(When I were a lass, I had a wool blazer that was dry cleaned once per term ....)

You were lucky! I don't remember mine being washed or dry cleaned ever. In 5 years. Though I suppose I didn't wear it very much either.

Ours is dry clean only - so when it needs it, every term but only worn to and from school so not worn all day.

Mine get dry-cleaned every half-term if we get round to it.

Only when it walks to the washing machine by itself and switches it on. Failing that, whenever it looks grubby/stinky.

My DC both have wool blazers. I only do them once a term or maybe half term if I remember.
They don't smell and they still look like new.

It's a bomb proof M&s polyester one ago most weeks, but ds is a sweaty teen!

LOL at Cecily and other Mumsnetters.

I don't remember my school blazer ever being dry-cleaned either, and I had only one for the whole of senior school.

Worse than that, I don't think my skirt was ever dry-cleaned. My mum was a big fan of sponging down.

Our games kits only ever came home every half term for washing whether they needed to be or not.
