Fellow NUT and NASUWT members- which parts are you following/ planning on following?

Every instruction we have been given I am going to follow, we need to say enough is enough

All of it, although to be fair that pretty much means not having our usual weekly Departmental meeting. Other than that, we're pretty compliant with it already.

We've agreed that people can access the VLE/email outside working hours if they wish - just as well, I've just downloaded a big steaming pile of work which will keep me occupied until 3 or 4am...

We're compliant too, apart from the 3 hours and 3 times per year observation clause, which the Head has taken out of the new appraisal policy.

Not impressed with the NAHT advice to its members regarding this action.

I shall continue to do exactly what is necessary to teach the children in my class to the best of my ability and to maximise their progress.

Most of that is within the guidance, some of it is not, but why should the children suffer (I teach in a school with very high numbers of high-needs pupils from difficult backgrounds, where going the extra mile is only fair to even up the horrible hand in life many of them have been dealt)?

If I thought that the action would have any impact whatever on government policy - rather than on the children I teach - then my answer might be different.

My school is already pretty compliant, thankfully. Reading comments from others and reading the stuff sent out by the unions makes me realise what a good place I work in. Our HT is pretty decent.

Ours too...I met with him on Thursday (Union rep) about this &, after a productive meeting, as he said:

'This isn't teachers v management, it's all of us teachers sending a message to the bloody government. I'm certainly not here to pick holes in any of it!'

Which was nice, because he's a total psycho half the time...

Feenie - I have just read through that advice you linked to with my jaw dropping further and further.....

I was the same - depressing, innit.
