Anyone else have Dc's sitting the 11+ soon?

DD2 will be sitting two exams shortly and I'm finding it hard getting the balance between encouraging/nagging/supporting/not pressurising right.

Anyone else?

She did a mock on Wednesday and hit the pass mark on the nose, makes me feel very nervous (although obviously didn't say that to her).

Me. DD's two tests are within the next few weeks, much earlier than any of her siblings'. She's very much in summer holiday mode. I'm hoping all the other DC will be too, or we may well have a problem.

DD2 is sitting the Essex test on 22nd Sept - English, Maths and VR.
It's an anxious time, as it's a super-selective - wish there was a nail-biting emoticon Grin She's bearing up well, all things considered.

Same as Piggywigwig-DS sits it on the 22nd, though we're not going for a super selective.

He's fine-pretty chilled and looking forward to it all being over. He's done well in the mocks he's done at his school far but you never know what will happen on the day.

I, on the other hand, am faintly hysterical and hiding behind the wine and a large tub of chocolates (which are £5 in Tescos at the moment)!!

Yes, though it's a super-selective that I hold out almost zero hope of DC getting into, so have decided not to raise anyone's blood pressure too much. We have indie exams in Jan, so it's not all-hopes-pinned on the grammar. But for some friends it is, and I really sympathise about how nail biting a time it is.
We're doing a couple of papers a week. And that's it.

Ours are on the 4th and 10th of October...not holding out too much hope but fingers crossed...

How's it going NotMostPeople?

Despite not pinning our hopes on 11+ I'm feeling nervous. Sudden dip in marks is a bit disappointing. Not sure they'll even pass, let alone be offered a place.

yes - practice papers seemed to be going well over the summer, but dd has not passed any of her three mocks. we didn't do any tutoring & thought practice papers would be enough, but not sure. have told her just to do her best but yesterday dd told me she didn't think her best was good enough. it made me sad she has thoughts like that. her tests are 7 & 10 October.

Just finished the NVR paper, last one and I feel so relieved. DD said it went fine. She is happy and so therefore so am I.
My friend has been through this a few times and said herDC all dipped in scores on lead up to real thing. Try not to panic

We had the scores from the familiarisation papers - 92% - but they weren't timed (this is an issue for DS, he's not the hurried type!).

Got the practice papers next week...
