Questionnaire at school.... "What is the worst thing a parent could do to you"

DS had a questionnaire on allsorts about themselves. What they like least about themselves (his teeth - orthodontist said too young ATM) , hobbies, pets, etc......

and the one above.

Apparantly this provoked some debate. Some thought shouting, some hitting. It wasn't what may have been done, just what was the worst you could imagine!

DS said "parents not believing you, and not being able to trust your parents"

I was just greatful that most of them couldn't even imagine what some poor kids go through.

It was interesting to find out his answers though - gave us a good talk

wow, what a fab question! I shall ask that to dd one day, I think. And I will remember it for when I am back in the classroom. I think all children sholud consider this, and all parents should know! Thanks.

I suppose it opened up debate in many households.
It's a pity though that the ones who most need it probably didn't tell their parents.

I assume so - a good way for the teacher to learn about pupils!

I think I would re-word it to be more precise.
Is it about what you most worry that your parents might do to you / have done to you / what you most fear of the things they do, then that neds to be made clear.

It's very open atm, and the answer is 'sell you to an internet porn ring' 'kill you' etc...

Not sure how happy I would be about it, tbh. It's a bit like the school fishing for information, isn't it? And what are they going to do if some child does come out with something really worrying? Having asked the question, aren't they going to be under a duty to investigate?

I wondered that Blu, but teacher explained it was NOT what your parents did, but what was the worst "Parents" in general could do.

Hmmmmm. Call me an old cynic, but it still sounds like nosey teachers trawling for child protection cases to me. IME teachers can be phnomenally presumptuous and intrusive, especially in primary schools.
