Durham High School for Girls Vs CNHS

We're looking at schools for our DD (3.5y) for next September. We feel single sex would be best for her as she is quite timid and wary of boys. Has anyone got experience of either DHS or CNHS? I have also been a little worried about a few comments I've read on mn saying that all-girls schools are nasty, bitchy environments. Someone tell me that's not true...

These two schools are quite a distance apart - where do you live? A Reception age child doesn't need a whopping long journey.

I went to CNHS and had a good time there. I've no knowledge at all of Durham High (am presuming it's in Durham hence comment on journey...)?
