Suitable for year 7 pupils in first term? Ds1 bought it home and he thinks it's very funny and cool, I am a bit Hmm.

he has a fairly mature reading age, enjoys rick riorhdon (sp), Anthony Horowitz, some gaiman, golden compass triology, Terry pratchet. Actually I don't like idea of limiting his reading tho I'd steer him from Dean koonfz etc till older.

We do however censor computer games, films etc routinely. He's not allowed to play realistic or overly violent fighting games like call of duty and with films we try and stick to age appropriate tho occasional 15 may slip in.

Never thought I'd start a thread like this but the lines in poem made me feel uncomfortable such as sticking gun to temple of a Childs head

It's no less suitable than, say, The rime of the ancient mariner which I'm teaching to Year 7 at the moment.

It's very tongue-in-cheek and, in my recollection, students interpret it as such.
