how will this work in practice? Will sixth forms/colleges cope with the extra numbers?

I think there will need to be more sixth form colleges built. Also, hopefully more apprenticeships will be created.
I read it as vocational training as well as educational.

apprenticeships to do what?
a three year course in assisting somebody to work in a call centre?
apprenticeships were for skilled manual labour that no longer exists large scale in the UK
now lessons in Courtesy - THAT would be good

Not sure this will remain policy given it was a Labour government proposal.

Raise the school leaving age to 25 to solve unemployment among the young.

In reality, It may be raised a year sometime soon

If it is happening then they had better get a move on building as it was meant to be 2013.

Interesting to note that school leaving age was 14 when my dad was at school so it will be 4 years later, they are only adding 3 years to the state pension age so it is still a shorter working life, especially with so many going to university.
