Has anyone set up a school uniform shop within their school?

I work in a small prep school and our uniform suppliers are not providing a great service to our parents. I'd like to look at the school buying their stock of our uniform so we can create a shop at the school. We already sell second hand uniform at school and we could have both in the same place. Does anyone have any experience of doing this or know where I can look for guidance and advice?

Our school switched to these people //www.stevensons.co.uk who set up a shop in what used to be a games storage cupboard in the school and employ one of the mums to run it. As far as I am aware they own the stock so the only costs the school had were the room. The school was able to determine which suppliers actually make the clothes so jumpers still made by Charles Clore and Shorts stilll made by gleneagles etc.

Thanks, Lizcat. I'll have a look at them.

I have worked at a school that used the Direct Clothing Company. Their model is exactly what you are looking for, I'd say.
