Is Ebay the best place?

We have a few large items to sell - wardrobe, stone mantlepiece, table, cast iron radiator. No idea where to start. Is Ebay the best place, or are there better alternatives?

If it is large items how about your local free paper?? Adtrader or the likes? Or Gumtree, these are normally local and you dont have to pay to advertise them unlike ebay.

Anything IKEA will sell very well on ebay. Infact, I would put the table and radiator on there as well. FOr a large item, buyers are prepared to travel quite a distance.

I would never sell an collection-only item on ebay. Far too many ways to get scammed and/or break ebay rules.

How could you get scammed? Can you not ask for cash on collection?

As I have absolutely no idea if any of my family has immune issues (I have a big family) There's no way I would ever consider letting them use my dc as a human guinea pig. Scares the life out of me, vaccines! They have there place but this is all a bit rushed for my liking. The virus is going to mutate anyway as a matter of course so how useful will mass vaccination have. I have no idea and I'm not sure they do either.

Not for me or my family.

Wow the fangs and claws are out in full force in this thread... An interesting read but non too pleasant!

I have had better luck on ebay with large items than my local free ads. I always put my postcode (first part) in the title (don't use up too many letter for this. Like collection BN1. Always state your rules for your auction clearly. ie:
#in how many days the item must be collected
#Where the item is to be collected from not full address
#What types of payment you accept. You are pefectly in your right to state Cash on collection ONLY.
#State any any flaws, cracks, blemishes you can see, any signs of wear and tear etc

All my sales have gone smoothly and I have had no problems with them. I would also suggest the item is near the front door or in the garage ready for collection. You do not ideally want strangers coming into the house. Never leave anyone in your house you don't know while you go into another room. Maybe I'm stating the obvious but it's best to avoid the opportunists.

Happy Ebaying.

Thank you, that's great info. All our stuff will be in the garage - good tip!

I am now busy trying to work out which threads your other comments relate to. They sound much more interesting than mine .
