We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been restricted from selling on eBay for breach of our Seller Non-Performance policy.

anyone know if we can do anything about this. it's highly unfair!

we have three negs and over 1600 score. seems like they can just ban you for that now

dp is livid, it'a a big chunk of our income. can't speak to a human to try to rectify, really is bad news for us.

no advice? i've emailed the bloke who negged us last to offer refund but only have three days to qualify for feedback revision, can't see that happeneing.

we could do nothing about other two negs.

new account and start all over again??

as a buyer,i dont honestly look to closely at feedback, transactions, all that stuff.

I must admit I tend to feel a bit about sellers with a massively high feedback score - I assume they are selling stuff off the back of a lorry and dodging tax

Start again with a new account

we can't they check ip addresses apparently.

really confused as to why this happened. feel like banging head on wall.

If you dont mind me asking, what are the reasons for the negatives?

If someone had 3 negatives in a month because 3 items turned up damaged/defective, not as described, or with excessive postage then understandable that they may want to do something to deter that.

If it was 3 negatives over 6 months for minor things, then I wouldnt expect anyone to be banned.

my coniving ex managed many ebay accounts!! give it a try!

one was for a shirt that was listed as wrong size, we offered a refund, they didn't reply just negged.

second was a dispute which we won. could do nothing about that.

both negs in 2008.

third one was definitely our fault, first genuine mistake. have just emailed bloke to see if we can get it retracted. (4 weeks ago)

for a score of over 1600, i dont think 3 negs warrant a ban.

I don't believe they will check your IP address

I have two accounts

If they REALLY check, then you can use an IP masker

Report
southeastastra · 24/08/2009 15:02

ooh ip masker?

But the whole point of negs is that people can make up their own mind if they want to buy from you!

Bloody stupid.

Report
LynetteScavo · 24/08/2009 15:05

I don't think you'd need an IP masker....I have two acounts from one adress, I bet loads of people do.

hope that is the case, waiting for dp to call them (i can't, he has to as he's account holder)

all our fb is really good, i can't understand it.

Its not just the negs though... it goes off the star ratings people give. So they may be giving positive feedback but lower star values. I read all that new information for sellers recently and you really don't need to have many only giving 3 stars for things like postage costs or speed of postage, to get a ban.

You need to read the seller non-performance policy and be honest with yourselves as to whether you are meeting it or not.

Personally I would wait till the 4 weeks is up, then go back to selling but be really careful about listing info, descriptions, postage costs etc to make sure you don't get a lifetime ban.

What are you selling that its a major source of income and are you declaring it as the IR has inspectors just for ebay these days...

Report
southeastastra · 24/08/2009 15:21

lowest star rating we have is 4.7 rest are 4.8.

obviously not making that much money from it, to declare to ir .

make more money for ebay and paypal

Isn't it 'a big chunk of your income' though? I would be very careful if you are not declaring it, tbh.

Report
morningpaper · 24/08/2009 15:28

Yes it all needs to be declared - after all, the evidence is pretty clear if they need it!

I don't know what the LOWER limit is from selling stuff on though - you'd have to ask a tax person, I think it's more complicated if you are selling stuff you don't need

Report
southeastastra · 24/08/2009 15:29

no we're fine, i'm paranoid about stuff like that don't worry

OP posts:

morningpaper · 24/08/2009 15:33

here is a useful guide - basically, if you have BOUGHT anything with the intention of selling it, then you need to declare it. But if it's your own second-hand stuff then you are okay.

Report
Flibbertyjibbet · 24/08/2009 15:54

Yes, anything thats income needs to be declared. If you are selling your own used/unwanted stuff then no need to declare. But selling new stuff etc needs to be declared. If its income, its taxable, simple as that, and should be declared. If you are not working then you probably won't go over your personal allowance for it, but best to do a tax return and declare it anyway.

My friends husband last year got a whopper fine for selling something on ebay that was counterfeit. He didn't know at first he was importing and selling counterfeit items, but when he did he stopped just putting 'genuine' on the description and thought that was ok.

Not that you are selling counterfeit stuff, but the point I need to make is, that when the authorities got involved, ebay provided them with every transaction he had made, going back six years.

still bemused why we have been banned. ebay is useless. no one answers emails, or calls.

I think you need to read their policy and ask yourself very honestly which of the areas you have not complied with.
Think I'll have a read of it myself actually, I've got a few things to bung on next month.

Go onto the ebay answer centre (under 'community' drop down menu, top right of page)- you don't need to be logged in to access it; you may have to to post a message, can't remember. The people on there will answer you in minutes. They are not ebay staff, just seasoned ebay users and have helped me with a whole range of stuff. They don't mince their words though...

Find out if it's happened to anyone else and why.

I also have 2 accounts a personal one that I've had for years where I sell my own used stuff and then a business account where I sell stuff I buy to sell. I can access either of them from any computer (but mostly from my own laptop) I wouldn't worry about the IP address thing.
If I were you though I'd like to get to the bottom of why exactly you received a 4 week ban so would keep trying to contact ebay for the full story.
