eBay

Just received my Ebay item - not what was advertised

Long story, will try to be brief.

Managed to get my company Blackberry 8110 squashed by a car while on holiday. Can't confess to my boss as I dropped the last one in the loo only 2 months ago . So I decided to look on Ebay.

I bid on one advertised as brand new, 8110 model, no network mentioned but when it arrived yesterday it's a different model (8120) and shows the Orange logo when switched on.

Contacted the seller who offered £25 refund (to include £5 to unlock the phone).

WWYD? Is this reasonable or should I go for a full refund?

I'd opt for the refund, and carry on looking for the actual model you need.
I had a similar, although not quite so expensive, issue with a seller recently. But mine was simply rectified, but I did leave neutral feedback because of it.

Seller sounds reasonable, was it a genuine mistake is the first thing I consider.

Then whether the item is actually suitable for what I want.

If both yes, then accept refund and problem solved,

but if you don't want this model send it back - you have every right to, as it was described wrongly.

Feedback depends almost entirely on the seller's attitude for me - everyone makes mistakes, it's what they do to try and rectify it that counts. So if it's resolved quickly and politely and they apologise, I leave positive.

I think it was a genuine mistake, he's told me now that he got the phone from his insurance company and doesn't really know anything about it.
I thought it would be a simple case of putting in my sim, but now I either have the hassle of sending it back or unlocking it.
Either way, more hassle than I expected.

Mine told me she didn't even check the item was in working order

it's definitely brand new, still has clear plastic wrapping on screens etc but I'm a bit of a techno-dunce and I'm trying to find out on T'Internet if it's a good phone or not.
Doesn't help that I'm trying to be sneaky and not let my boss know I'm such a clumpsy idiot

I decided to ask for a full refund and try again for the correct model, but the seller is ignoring my emails.
What rights do I have and how should I proceed?

Sorry, that sounded really needy ! But I've never had any problems with Ebay in the past and I don't really know what my rights are!
