I'm selling something on ebay for the first time and 2 people have emailed me asking if I would consider a buy it now price. I understand what this is but not sure whats best to do. And if I know 2 people are keen, is it better to let them bid against each other to get me a higher price?

I normally ask what price they are thinking then take it from there.
With 2 people asking it may be worth saying auction only. Although they may find another item like it on Ebay before yours ends (depending on what it is0

If two people have asked for a buy it now price then the thing must be in for a decent price at auction.

I never end an auction for buy it now.

Instead email back something like

'thank you for your interest, I would prefer to let the auction run its course. Thanks, knittingmum.

Oops I forgot to add in there my usual bit about 'please do have a bid and good luck!' cos that makes them think that you want them to have it.

Depends if there are loads of your item already on ebay.

They could knowingly offer a lower price than you could get at end of auction. If you decline a BIN offer you could loose their interest completely as they might want it really cheap. I would say dont commit but ask their offers and then take it from there, if you think its worth it or really want rid of your item ASAP then possibly sell as buy it now. But if its less than you wanted or you dont mind hanging on to the item for a while longer then say no.

Thanks everyone - that's really helpful I have mailed them both back and decided to let it continue for auction.
Thanks so much again x
