How do you make £300 on an ebay challenge?

What actually sells?

I am not trying to make £300 (£3000 would be nice though!) but I am intrigued as to what you ebayers sell that adds up to £300.

The best I have ever managed to make on ebay is the odd £5.

I aim to average £100 a month DG, though it doesn't always work out that way.

I sell kids clothes (boden, mainly), which obv don't go for huge amounts individually, but still sell well even if old. I've sold some computer bits, which bumps it up a bit more. Last year we sold a shed for £90 or so (it was in the garden of our house when we moved, we'd have had to take it down anyway and take it to the dump). Sold a tripp trapp chair for £80 or so, dd2's old car seat for £60. Ds's outgrown cello for £125. A pile of old ladybird books for £35 iirc, and a big bundle of dd2's outgrown age 2-3 clothes for over £100.

I'm about to list another broken laptop and some Caterpillar boots dh was given that were never worn. Stuff my MIL buys for the kids that they're never going to wear. Etc.

It does add up.

Hello So you are still at it? I remember us starting out on ebay together.

I confess I have never really bothered with it, but now the financial situation has bitten the DG family, I have turned to ebay again. At the moment I only have 14 items listed and they all still have over half a week to go, but so far, I have one bid of 99p. It is hardly going to set us straight!

What do you do about larger items? Courier? or pick up only?

If you can pack them up for courier you'll attract more buyers.

I sell anything that isn't screwed down used for a few months basically

Mostly baby bits/buggies/footmuffs/bags but also the odd random thing I come across. I check completed bids to see if things are selling atm, like I had a Phil & Teds and waited till the prices shot up before listing it and made more on it than I paid 2nd hand myself!
Things seems to go in phases. Just waaiting for a Bugaboo phase as have a Frog and lots of accs to list.

Yes, I got the hang of it eventually, DG!

For really big items (cello, car seat, tripp trapp chair, shed) I've done pickup only, cos I'm lazy and also a bit paranoid about things getting damaged in transit. Plus I have to do school pickups, so can't stay in all day waiting for a courier to pick up. It doesn't seem to affect the price that much, although we are fairly near to central London. I guess it would be more of a disadvantage out in the sticks.

I tend to only list items I know will sell well, I can't really be doing with selling things for 99p. Obviously it does happen occasionally, but I try to avoid it. These are my current items, some of which seem to be doing okay, though the green skirt only has two watchers, so might not sell.

It's worth doing a good bit of research under 'completed listings' to see what does and doesn't sell before you list things. The only things I will specifically buy in order to sell on is the M-B clothing (though all the stuff in the current listing is my own dc's outgrowns, or unwanted hand-me-downs). I have several boxes of meccano sitting in my study that I'm currently dithering about.

Have you tried car boot sales? Also good, but you have to get up v. early and things do go for depressingly low prices. I know expatinscotland recommends Gumtree, and I was thinking about giving that a whirl for items I can't be bothered to ebay.

Assuming I get the cash I have got: Frog (165) + taylor's dummy (90) + boden handbag (50) + ikea chagning table (20).

I won't be able to repeat this though.

Sorry. I meant Bugaboo Frog and tailor .

Apart from the bag, I made everything cash on collection.
