I always charge lots for international postage in the hope of discouraging overseas buyers, also because international signed for costs a bomb.
But you really should use it so you get a tracking number for paypal. Else the buyer can claim non-receipt and paypal will refund them.

I agree with Jem, you should charge for signed for which is £3.95 on top of regular international postage. Having said that I posted something (to Latvia as it happens) today which only sold for about £4, which just went in the post box.

yes it does, price varies depending on destination and value of item.

agree with sarah that it probably wouldn't matter for low value items.

I just don't post things abroad ever now if selling them UK only doesn't impact the price. I have non UK bidders blocked and I will occasionally unblock this for an overseas bidder if they email and have 100% feedback.

How do you block out of interest? thanks

I think the best option is Airsure, which is £4.20 plus the airmail price. This gives online tracking which would be needed in case of a paypal dispute. If you state this as the only option then it is up to them if they want to proceed with the purchase.
It's just the same as offering recorded delivery within the Uk as the only option - they pay the postage and you know you are covered should a dispute occur.

International signed for only tracks while the item is in the UK. They do have to sign for it but you don't get online tracking

In the "account" tab of eBay, you select "site preferences" and there is a section about "buyer requirements" which you can edit.

You have 4 types - postcards, letters, packets and printed papers (books etc) There are 2 sets of prices (all according to weight) - europe and 'rest of world'

full list of prices according to weight here www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=53800712&catId=400036

I don't always post Airsure. It depends on the value tbh. If it is more than I can risk losing then it is airsure but otherwise I just use airmail (never surface mail)
This said, I only sell books and book buyers tend to be a different kettle of ebayers in my experience.

ah right

thanks sixlost!

What I mean is you know how in this country some packets can go as a large letter if they fit through the slot width wise are under 750g..... is that the way you differentiate between letters and parckets for abroad (I cant seem to see any dimensions on the webiste)
