i thought there was a time limit for refunds. what's the problem with the item?

I am sure that you don't have to refund, it's a long time ago, why didn't he answer the dispute?
It's so difficult finding anything out with ebay, it's all automated.

Why did he open the dispute? And what is he saying is the reson for returning it?

It was a large collection of pokemon cards.
Basically a couple of them had some damage which i agree as i said all cards bar a copuple were in good condition.
I offered refund when returned.
He has never responded and the dispute he opened closed on Wed.
He has had the items for a month likely played with them got bored and wants to return them now.
Do i have to refund ?
Most shops only give 28 days to return ?

If he's closed the dispute then there is nothing he can do - the case is closed.

what does the dispute say? i suppose like my case paypal would refund him once the item is sent back with tracking.

I have a feeling that it is a 14 day return for Ebay.

Report
wotuhohohoinat · 12/12/2008 13:48

Actually, I might have made that up! Do you have a returns policy on your listings?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 12/12/2008 13:51

He opened a dispute in the resolution centre but never escalated to a claim.
Paypal automatically close if no response within 20 days.
They closed it on Wed and now he says he is returning.
I have no refunds on my listing but obv will if i have to.
However looking it says he can't reopen a dispute or claim.

Did Paypal close the claim because you didn't respond?

Report
LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 12/12/2008 13:57

No i responded offering refund on return.
Buyer never responded or returned items so they give him 20 days to do so or they close it.
Have just looked and he cannot reopen a dispute or claim for these items now.

no, we said we'd refund if he sent it back so the case was closed. (although he still hasn't sent it back) then he negged us. (i think he was a twit)

Basically it seems i don't have to refund and can ask for postage costs to return items back to him if he sends them.
Or can offer refund minus postage costs , listing fees and packing as a goodwill gesture.
What would you do am likely to be negged either way but feel that the buyer should stick within the time frame ??

I would send him a polite email saying that you are sorry but you are unable to refund as the item wasn't returned within the 20 day times frame, as specified by Paypal.

it's so hard isn't it. to be honest we're getting used to negs now as sellers.

i feel your buyer is being unreasonable. he has left it so long. but it's your call

Wouldn't refund as paypal has closed it now. If he leaves neg feedback put in a comment on your side of the situation.

He's at it. Tell him to feck off, in a polite way of course. If you do get the cards back, send them back to him.

Is this ok

Upon seeking advice you have unfortunately exceeded the time to return items.
Please do not return as i will be unable to refund.
I feel i have been very patient in waiting for a response given you purchased these a month ago.
Please may i draw your attention to the time frame you are given in the resolution centre.
With thanks

Your message says everything. Fingers crossed.
I once had a buyer who said the (new) top I sold her wasn't new and she wanted a refund. I told her it was new and that I didn't offer refunds. She left me a postive straight away and I never heard from her again. Hopefully your buyer is trying it on in such a manner!
