depends on what it is, those padded envelopes, bubblewrap and plastic mailing bags, or sometimes good old fashioned parcel paper........or a combination of the 3 .

Okay have just bought a pack of 60 enviro bags (plastic mailing bags).

In the next few days I have to post off a buggysnuggle in original packaging so was going to wrap in parcel paper.

A pair of shoes was going to bubble wrap and small mailing bag

Hair straighteners in a pouch was going to bubble wrap and mailing bag.

Not sure about my cot quilt though?

have you sent an invoice? If so I would give them another day or 2 and then contact them to ask poitely when they intend paying - if not then send one and it will serve as gentle reminder

I buy mailing bags cheap on ebay, they are totally waterproof, durable & cheap!

i reuse packingas much as possible, but also send in plastic bags, next, M&S and primark ones work best, if something that doesnt need protecting. I havent brought bags yet!

Ah will remember that in future Lisa

I have sent an invoice so just need to wait and see I guess, it sold at 5pm on Monday so will send an email tonight. It's my first sale and am all para about it but I guess worst that can happen is I get bad feedback or have to relist as I its not like she can get the item and rip me off

you may lose some seller rating stars if you use plastic carry bags though

Report
lisad123 · 03/12/2008 10:33

why would it matter as long as it arrives safely!

Report
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 03/12/2008 10:34

because selling rating stars are visible to other buyers, and if they get too low your stuff doesn't come so high up the searches when people do a search..........

Those star feedback things you do as a buyer - can the seller see them?

Do you think this email is okay or does it sound cheeky obv I have left out names...

I was just emailing to make sure you got my confirmation and invoice for the Buggysnuggle? This is my first sale so I'm not really sure how everything works LOL.

I hope everything is okay your end , could you give me an idea when you will be paying for this item as I was hoping to have it posted this week before the Christmas rush to avoid all the hassle, I'm sure you know what I mean.

Thanks for your time

See I would reuse brown paper, just turn it inside out or bubble wrap but I would be a bit peed off paying postage and packing for someone to send it in a carrier bag. Myabe it's just me though?

Then I am a bit hypocritical because Im saying that but if it was something that needed a big box I'd use nappy or crisp boxes

The seller stars affect your visiabilty on ebay searches, and also if they drop too low, you can be suspended. If i get things sent in just a carrier bag, i give a lower star rating for P+P (unless the postage was at cost or free)

FYI - if you ask the kind lady/man at the PO for the Royal Mail Special Delivery bags, you can use these to post most stuff in (unless it is huge!) Just turn them inside out so none of the royal mail info is showing - then it is just a plain silver mailing bag - waterproof too! And FREE!

hope this helps someone.

I always wrap nicely, use tissue paper, ribbon and sometimes stickers, and ensure I leave a note on a nice card inside the parcel, this makes the ebay experience really nice and I get lots of compliments and good feedback. I sell clothes I've bought and not worn, or not worn much. When I buy something and it arrives stuffed in a carrier bag I feel really quite sad. Also i always start my things at 99p - I usually get good prices and it is much more fun - I tend not to bid on things with a high start price because it always seems such a cheek demanding a high price for your cast offs - but with 99p starts you get lots of bids and people get carried away.
