If you are confident in your ad then I would just keep referring him to that and say sorry. Not sure if eBay offer any help/advice to sellers on this type of thing?. Sounds like the guy is being a complete twat.

tell him to bugger off. you were clear it wouldnt work... you didnt guarantee that his battery would work in it.

Report
scorpio1 · 03/07/2008 13:46

my exact words were

it wont charge i dont know whether it needs a new battery or not

as this item is faulty i cannot offer any refunds as i am selling the phone as faulty - sold as seen

water damaged is in title and twice in listing

faulty is mentioned 4 times

tell him to take a long walk on a short pier.

he has NO grounds for getting a refund at all - you sold the item as faulty and clearly stated no refunds.

i wonder if that battery bit was misleading? dh listed it so i wasnt there to see.

Thanks all

No confusion at all, scorpio. You said it was faulty, faulty, faulty, sold as seen, no refunds, water damaged, etc.

If he can't read English clearly, that's his lookout.

he may do paypal dispute... Grr
but I'd say no...
tell him to pay for return postage and you'll do full refund minus postage. Doubt he'll shell out. If he did you could offer underbidder the item?

Report
scorpio1 · 03/07/2008 13:59

postage was £10 he may do that....

underbidder offered 125, seller paid 127...not much diff i guess but thats alot of money to loose out on isnt it?

DH has spent the money on a flight to Norway, he is there today. Item was bought over a week ago

Tell him politely to go jump!

You stated it was faulty & water damaged so you've covered yourself.

I would reply saying as stated in your listing you will not offer a refund as tou stated it was a faulty item.

Let him open a dispute if he wants - I honestly cannot see PP letting him win that one!

scorpio1 · 03/07/2008 14:24

I don't know what happens with PP disputes...

also i thought how odd he wants partial refund?

Just let him open one - I would say it's highly unlikely they would say you have to refund as you clearly stated it was faulty!

So possibly he will tell paypal and then they are sort of the deciders?

I think, like you say, i am covered i said no refunds.

lalaa · 03/07/2008 14:27

yes, i thought that too about the partial refund. i think he knows that he's not really due one which is why he asked for only part of the money

Report
scorpio1 · 03/07/2008 14:29

he said in his message that someone has quoted him 73 GBP to fix so he wants 40GBP back...errrr i told you it was faulty i am not paying the repair bill!!

So i am correct to tell him no, yes?

though - i dont want a neg but i guess i will have a chance to reply?

tell him send it for full refund minus postage or nothing
call bluff.
paypal will also allow you to offer only this so covered!!

Report

Thanks all

I think i will send him a message saying no refund first as listing clearly states faulty and sold as seen, including water damaged as the reason.

then if he persists i will do what you suggested Piffle.

Thanks! Will update
