eBay

Bought and paid for item yesterday - today seller 'no longer registered'

I won an item yesterday and paid straight away through paypal.
The seller had about 5500 feedback and looked to be a reputable seller, so I thought all was safe.

Today I got an email from them saying that my item had been shipped, (it was sent at 3.30 am and I won the item after the post office would have been shut), and they had left positive feedback for me, which I thought was strange as sellers usually wait til you leave feedback first.

Turns out that during the night the seller has become 'no longer registered' and when I tried to look at the item via the link in myeBay, the listing had been removed.

I don't know what it all means, do you think I'll ever see my item?!

I've emailed eBay but as yet haven't recieved a reply.
I'm so annoyed!!

hmm. i had this once, i paid £200 for an ARgos voucher worth £450. The seller became unregistered and i never got the voucher.
He did have no feedback at all though.

Sounds like you might be ok if he left you feedback, i have had sellers do it really early. And he had 5500 good feedbacks!

if you paid through paypal you'll be fine, they'll refund your money if seller turns out to be dodgy

I've had this happen once, I had bought from the seller before and found her reliable so I wasn't too concerned. The next time I look for her she was registered again so it may have been some temporary admin problem.

From the other side of the fence, this happened to me and it turned out to be a scammer who had built up a brilliant feedback score, then sold lots of items over a few days - for thousands and thousands of pounds - and then de-registered. Needless to say the items didn't exist and I soon received a call from a police officer investigating it. I never received a refund from PayPal - can't remember why, but they had a legit reason (legit, but not fair!) and I never receive my item. Reminds me I should call the police officer and find out what happened to "dtgcymru"!

tis happened to me a few years ago my item arrived fine a few days later, so i didnt have anything to moan about.

i got left feedback immediatly after paying, an email saying item shipped (from china) and then a day later they were no longer a regsitered user and havent been to this day - well not in that name!!

auntymandy - Have you tried using the Live Help? They got my account sorted straight away when it happened to me. It is usually quicker to get through to someone the later it gets too.

Ivegotaheadache - Don't panic too quickly. It happened to me once and I still got my goods through!

Send the seller a polite email if you haven't yet recieved it. And be prepared to fill out a dispute form on ebay!

From the other side, I was once deregistered by Ebay because of a problem with the paypal system. It lasted a few days because Paypal are notoriously difficult to get hold of.

As people on here have said...don't worry yet. If you have Paypal, you're protected; if the item arrives, you'll have nothing to worry about. If you keep checking the site, you'll probably find they come back and it was just a blip in the system.

Hope that's how it turns out anyway!

Thanks for your replies, well, I got the goods today so great super fast delivery, except... The blooody things don't fit and are FAKE, not only are they fake but they aren't even a good fake product.

They look so rubbish that even if they did fit, I wouldn't wear them anyway!

I bought a pair of Nike Air Max trainers in a size that should fit no problem. But I can hardly squeeze them on.

I should have known really, that they wouldn't be genuine at the price they were sold at but I didn't think.

I've just emailed the seller (the one who is no longer registered!!!) and practically begged for a refund.

She (he) seemed ok and emailed me before saying not to worry that the goods were on it''ss way when I was panicking about not receiving them, so I'm hoping they are nice people.

I got a reply from ebay saying that they hadn't removed the listing or anything like that so the seller has decided to not use ebay any more.
