Query over paypal fee for refund

The buyer paid by PP despite my description saying clearly cash on collection (it's furniture.) I messaged him the minute the auction ended to confirm cash only. That was at. 10pm The following day at 5am he paid via Paypal having not read my message or the listing carefully. (I admit I'm not changed the default setting from Paypal.)

I have refunded him via PP and he is collecting with cash. But PP has taken almost a fiver from the refund in fees. Do I cough up and make up with full amount for him, or is he responsible for the PP fee as he didn't read my listing or message before he paid?

PayPal shouldn’t have taken £5 from a refunded sale, only 20p. I’d give them a call to see what’s going on.

And as to your OP, it’s still your responsibilty, not the buyers, I’m afraid. (But as per above, you should get it back)
