eBay

Why would a buyer make purchases from different accounts to the same address

A buyer has bought 2 items under a different user name both accounts are new and have zero feedback but both are to the same address and have the same name, the items bought literally 5 minutes apart.
So I’m sending them signed for delivery even though they are low value items but is this necessary is this a scam? It’s very strange I’ve never gone across this before but I can’t see how it is a scam though Confused

Does sound a bit weird if both are new. E.g. and I both have eBay accounts which the dc use indiscriminately so that would be possible but our accounts have been going for ages ...

I get buyers using the same account but change the delivery name and address so that’s normal but I’ve never had two different accounts that are totally new and have the same name and address.
I’m wondering if I’ve blocked them before and they’ve set up a new account to buy, but the usual thing to do would be to buy both on just one new account.
So I’m sending the items separately as it’s two different accounts and I’ll send signed for as I’ll expect an item not received message otherwise

Did they purchase as a Buy-It-Now?
They may not have an account, and have made a Guest purchase from eBay.
I have a customer who keeps coming back, doesnt have an account a such but just checks out as a Guest each time - Username always looks new and I never know its them until I see their address. :)

I didn’t realise that you could buy as a guest on eBay without an account does it assign a new user name each time?

Yep, can buy as a Guest for certain transactions - under £750, BIN - there's an eBay guide on how to.
The username is diff each time and is usually a jumble of letters/numbers.
I'm not sure why people do it as a regular thing, instead of creating an account as I'm sure it's be trickier to chase up orders etc, but it can be done. :)

Yes the user names are a real jumble of letters and numbers that must be what they were doing, and I can’t see the point either

They are trying to build up their feedback. It could be that they are totally new to eBay, or, that they have been kicked off under one name - it is really rare for eBay to block an ISP address!
They may want to have one buyer, one seller account. They may be setting up to be a tax dodger by selling lots of items, then, moving on before they get caught. These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head!
If you send both items together - tracked. Message them on both accounts, point out that you are sending them together & ask if that is OK. Say, if I don't hear back by 9pm - whatever time, I will assume that is OK. Don't forget to upload the tracking

As long as they’re not expensive items Just make sure you follow the guidelines to maintain your seller protection and you will be fine.

Double check the addresses on the PayPal emails tally up with those on the ebay record. Send the items tracked and upload the tracking number against the sales record as soon as they’ve been sent and keep the receipts safe for 180 days.

Thanks for the replies, I did send the items tracked but separately. The strange thing is this same person has bought another two items with a different user name with zero feedback again so it must be the guest account thing. At least this time the two items were bought on the same account.
No idea what’s going on. I’m sure this person has also bought from me in the past
But seems to be genuine.
