Email from eBay confirming my order but I didn't buy anything!!

I've just received an email from eBay confirming my purchase of eyedrops. I don't use eyedrops, have never browsed them on eBay or anywhere. Yet the order does look like it's mine, as in the shipping address is correct. It appears to have been paid by PayPal but nothing is showing when I log into my PayPal account.

Is this a scam or would it just be a genuine mistake? I've emailed the seller but haven't heard anything back yet. What else should I do?

Thanks.

Scam. Ignore

I received an email like this and also a notification from eBay about my 'order' for a £250 gadget. This order had been made, but not by me! At some point I had stupidly given away my eBay login password (possibly by logging in or changing my details through a scam email). I was quite embarrassed as I'd always thought I was fairly savvy about these things. On the paypal transaction it showed that my name and eBay account had been used to make the order but that it had been delivered to an address 100's of miles away and as eBay had also messaged me about fraudulent activity I received a refund through my bank. I'm now very careful to only login through the app/web page. And I'd definitely ignore that email!

Did you click on a link in the e-mail to connect to Ebay or Paypal, and then log in? If so change your passwords immediately!

As Picadillypops said, only ever log in directly through the website, not by following a link.

Scam, they’re just trying to get you to click a link in the email so they can get your eBay login details.

As long as there is nothing in your actual PayPal or eBay accounts then it’s fine.

Delete the email and forget about it.

I'm not so sure it's a scam if it has your address on it. Log into your eBay account by typing the address into the browser rather than clicking the link just to be the safe side and look at your eBay history.

Change your passwords for eBay and PayPal and any other accounts that use combination of password and email address.

If you're worried go directly to ebay without clicking a link and check your account.

If it's not in there then it's a scam. I think ebay have a special email to send scams to.

Send the email to [email protected] and theyll tell you if it's fake. Also, as others have said change all your passwords.

It can be a glitch or it's fake. Contact ebay support and change all your passwords connected to your paypal or cards linked to your payment settings.

I had an email purporting to be from Amazon yesterday telling me my order had been cancelled because my card payment had been declined.
Really???
I haven't been on Amazon for months and certainly haven't tried to buy anything.

Again, most likely spam.
And whatever you do don’t click any links in the email!

Access your amazon account (not using links in the email) and check there are no orders, if there aren’t then delete the email and forget about it.
