Evening folks

I applied d or a job via a recruitment site for an online admin role. Had email tonight, person runs a business but also wants to list those items on eBay. Says they don't have an account and don't know how to use it or the time to learn. They want me to use my account.

They want to pay me X amount per week plus whatever the eBay fees are regardless of whether item sells.

I am trying to look into whether this is legit or not,but can't find anything on eBay. Anyone got any ideas?

That sounds dodgy to me.

Why couldn’t they hire you to set their account up and put in their bank details for payment and then they pay you.

I have bought lots on eBay but not done a huge amount of Selling.

The items would be too big to post, would have to be collected.

How the hell do they get away with getting these jobs onto the job centre website?

No don't do it, well known scam!

They get you to set up a PayPal account, you list items which sell and then you forward the money to them (minus your "wages"). Sounds easy money, right?

Fast forward a few months and you get a case opened up against you and the buyer (your "employer) gets their money back, which eBay forceably refund from YOUR PayPal account, and you are responsible for the debt.

Have had a look into it on eBay and it appears that what he wants is a trading assistant which isn't against their rules.

It's to set up his classified ads so no one will be paying me anything and he will pay me directly X a week.

Have Google all the stuff ams etc a d this does seem legitimate. Arrgghh not sure.

This has scam all over it! Some people are genuine doing this, others not so. You won't be able to know which one it is until it's too late. You don't need to take the risk. Plus it could be stolen items or something being sold with a dodgy history? Did this not cross your mind as to why this person does not want to do it on their account? Don't ever sell strangers stuff from your eBay account.
Surely your not that desperate to do this? If your interested in selling on eBay to generate profit then buy to sell things yourself on your own account.

Op. You want it to be legit. It would suit you to be legit.

It's a scam. You'll get burned if you go ahead. You'll wish you hadn't gone ahead with it, if it's a scam, which it is.

Your choices are:

1. Wish it wasn't a scam and get burned
2. Accept it's a scam and save yourself

There isn't a 3rd option. You WANT there to be an option 3) everyone says it's a scam but it's not and you earn lots of money and live happily ever after.

But that would be a fairy tale and this is real life. It's a well-known scam. Scams are bad news for everyone apart from the scammer.

There is no need to be so rude!

I asked a question and updated with extra info.

All the scams listed are to do with people paying into my PayPal account and then me transferring it. That isn't what the person is saying will happen.

Items for collection will show your location is this person in the same area?
There’s no point having a collection item which states it’s where you live but in fact the item is (possibly) hundreds of miles away it doesn’t make sense.
Along the line something will crop up that he wants you to do ‘to make it easier’ or to ‘solve a problem’ like LittleLights said
