Owing PayPal money when item has been delivered

Posted a pair of boots on the 4th if this month. Two weeks later I get a message from eBay saying that they haven't been received and that they would be taking the £45 I received for them and keeping it until the issue was resolved.

I checked the Royal Mail website (luckily I posted signed for) and saw that it hadn't been possible for it to be posted and a message was left.

Emailed the woman who has since picked up the boots.

My PayPal account still says I am in debit of £45 !!

Help - what do I need to do?

OK so an eBay case was opened for not received?

Your post is slightly confusing.... has the item now been delivered?

Is the case still open? If so make sure you have uploaded the tracking information against it.

Once you have done this phone eBay and tell them you have provided tracking information that proves the item has now been delivered, and they should release your funds.

The item has been delivered.

I know this as the woman who brought them included her phone number in the eBay message. I text her the same information I had given eBay - that she could pick up her item from her local PO and gave her the tracking number. She text back saying she had mailed me and thanks for the boots, now picked up. I never got any emails from her and this was on Wednesday.

I though I had put the tracking info on the eBay email. Will check. Thanks for posting reply.

You MUST upload the tracking info ASAP....... if you don't you're just one click away from losing your item AND your money.

Too late. Case closed. They've refunded the woman £45 even though she's hot the bloody boots.

Have called ebay, they say they will look into and prob give me back the money. I have to wait 24-48 hours.

Could all have been avoided if woman had got in touch with me instead of going straight to eBay. So annoying.

Thanks for advice anyway.

This happened to me, case opened by buyer because he didn't receive handbag 2 days after purchase (it was the week before Christmas!). Once he had the bag he then didn't close or update the case so PayPal took the money back.

I called them and provided them with the tracking details, they logged in to verify them and there on the phone and I had the money back within 24 hours.

Better to call IMO to get it sorted.

Oh and any feedback the buyer leaves will be removed as the case will be won in your favour.

In fairness OP it could have been avoided if you'd uploaded the tracking details and gone through the resolution centre as soon as the case was opened rather than texting the woman?

As soon as you get a notification telling you that a non receipt claim has been filed, it prompts you to upload the tracking details.

Anyway, I hope you get your money back, let us know how you get on.

or you could add the tracking number when you dispatch the item - you don't need to wait for a case to be opened

If you have tracking for an item and lose a case for INR then you can appeal it within 30 days of the case closing. Wait until the tracking shows that it is delivered before raising the appeal. You may need to provide proof of postage (ie something to show the address of the buyer is linked to the tracking number that shows the delivered status) as well as the tracking number. As noted above -- loading the tracking info when you dispatch or when the case is raised can avoid some of these hassles. HTH
