How does Paypal work, away from eBay? i.e. if I'm selling on other sites

e.g. selling on Facebook selling sites etc
I have just sold something and she paid by Paypal. I have never used Paypal away from eBay.
Is buyer protected? Am I protected? e.g. if i keep royal mail proof of posting (I don't want to do Signed For or higher, for low cost items)
Can a buyer rip me off potentially?

is Paypal like eBay in that they will always favour the buyer? ( i know Paypal is owned by eBay)

you need proof of delivery otherwise you risk being ripped off yes - and never take paypal for collected items either.

Try Hermes or Collect + - if under 1kg better than RM and free online tracking.
