Won something in auction but just have a feeling it's not going to end well!
History is a local item was listed first time round, I just lost out, it went for high £70s. Was disappointed so emailed the seller asking that he let me know if there were any problems with the sale as I was local and just missed out, heard nothing.
Then noticed item was relisted. Contacted buyer offering BIN price of £80 for a quick pickup, he said only forb£100 or £90 so I left it.
Auction runs and I win for £55! Result! BUT it's not been long but he's not responded to my email about arranging pickup.
I understand it must be a bit galling for him.
What's the betting I won't hear back and he'll relist? Or if I go will he try to get more money from me on the doorstep? Or not give me the whole bundle?

Seller cannot withold part of the item/s won or ask for more money. If seller does not respond then report them to ebay but there is not really much else you can do. Maybe take someone with you when you collect in case they do say anything. Basically tough luck for seller - they gambled and lost. You offered, they refused and missed out. That's the way it goes with ebay. Remember you can leave appropriate fb and stars.

Hmm so far looks like they're just going to ignore me and I won't get to collect it.
How long shall I give them before reporting to ebay?

Have you paid them? When did the auction end and have they relisted the item?

No I haven't paid - I'll be collecting as its nearby, I've asked if they prefer cash or PayPal and no response.
It was only yesterday.
But wary about things getting nasty if I report to ebay as they are in same town and presumably have my name and address?

I would pay for it - then they can't file a non paying case against you.

Has it been relisted?

Yes on this occasion I would pay too.

It's only in the sellers best interest to pay cash on collection so pay for it so that you've covered your side of the sale contract.

If you think I should pay, I will do. I guess if he never comes back about collection I can get a refund through ebay? Could he claim I had collected?
Can't see that it's been relisted yet....

yes you could get a refund and no he can't claim you have collected.

A seller should never take paypal for a collected item normally. And if you do go and collect and it is no good don't take the item and you can file not received to get a full refund should you need to.

Ok perhaps what I'll do is email and say if I don't hear back about him wanting cash & arranging collection then I'll assume he wants paying via PayPal.

So long as I had the money to send into limbo for a week or so and then recover, I'd pay by Paypal too. If you don't, then as others have said the buyer can get control of the situation and cause you mischief.

Also if you have paid you can still neg the seller.
