eBay

Collection only isn't where listing was stated

Just wondering what happens here.

Won an item on ebay. On the auction page it was collection only. Have been given an address to collect the item and it's a 20 minute drive from the location (18 miles to and from listed location) the auction gave as location of item.

I've replied querying the location as being different to the place on auction location and am yet to receive a response but would like to know where I stand here.

Had planned to collect the item when I am in the area of where I believed the item to be later this week, but won't have time for the extra time to go to this other location. That plus the extra travel costs to drive to and from means I would have likely not bid what I did for the item.

Should I be expected to collect regardless, have petrol milage costs taken off the final price, give up on it, or that the seller goes to the location it stated for collection? Not sure what's reasonable and what's the norm.

I think you need to offer those solutions to the seller.
If they are unreasonable, I'd drop it and if necessary report to eBay.

Yes, Lweji's suggestion makes sense. Assuming it's cash on collection, tell the seller that because of the increased fuel cost & time you want to renegotiate the purchase price, unless the seller can arrange pick up from the location originally given

or you could ask them to just send you a cancellation request to get their fees back.
