Going on holiday...

Right we are off on holiday on 29th. But massively got the ebay bug at the moment and listing as much as I get time for every day. I usually do 7 day listings. So far I have been very lucky and all buyers have paid up straight away except pick up locally ones but I know that's not always the case.

When do you think the latest ending time should be? Was thinking of mentioning that I am going away on 29th but I don't want to announce that as the buyer can access my address (I think?).

Should I do shorter auctions as the time gets closer so that I have more time to list stuff? Or will that equal less money? I use the 99p free listings. I know I could wait till after the holiday but just have so much stuff that I want to get as much as I can done if possible, but not if it will mean hassle while we are away or getting less money for the items.

I find shorter listings get about the same amount of money as they show up closer to the top of the search list so you probably won't lose out on bids and in fact sometimes you might do better as they'll want the item quicker so that can be more lucrative. I would definitely put them ending 5 days min before you go. You don't want someone paying and then wondering why you haven't responded and getting negative feedback. Happy holidays! :)

well - you can open an unpaid case after 48 hours, and close 4 days later - so I would say 6 days at the very least.

A bit late for you but if I'm going away I usually end them a few days before and state that payment will need to be received within 48 hours if they wish the item to be posted by X date, if they can't pay within 48 hours it will be posted on Y date.
