Not sure what feedback to leave

I brought a phone cover and was listed with 5 next day delivery. It was sent with just a first class stamp!

I like the phone cover but feel a bit miffed that the postage was less than £1 and I paid £5. Even if it had been sent recorded I don't think I'd feel so miffed. I'm thinking neutral feedback with comment about postage excessive.

Well, you knew what the postage was before you bought it... if you didn't need it urgent, I'd probably have contacted the seller to ask if she could send it more cheaply. But I agree that she has done it sneakily, making you think that she was going to courier it.

I'd contact her and ask for a reduction in postage as she was misleading, before leaving feedback.

urgently

I think the seller is greedy and you are quite right to want £4 back

the rubbish about knowing what it was before you bid is no excuse for the seller ramping up posting to get more profit - I hope you leave neg and low stars if they refuse to refund the difference.

you paid for next day delivery. How long did it take to arrive?

Report
Vickiyumyum · 05/03/2014 14:02

It arrived 5 days after payment. It said in listing up to five days to despatch which was fine. Just a bit peeved that it was not even signed for. I know they are probably pissed off to have only got the starting bid. But that's not my fault. I had put a higher bid but no one else bid against me.

A seller is not supposed to profit on postage - have you asked for a partial refund yet?

if you paid for next day delivery, and it was sent by post and took five days, I think you have a valid claim for the extra. Have you still got the packaging?

did they have a lower P&P for not-next-day?

No just one postage price. I have emailed but no reply. Think I will leave neutral as overall happy with the cover for the price including p&p just feel that it's not right to profit from postage costs. They should have started the item at a higher price if they really wanted more.

are you going to mark the stars low? I think you are way too generous leaving a neutral tbh.

Report
Vickiyumyum · 05/03/2014 15:52

Really? Was going to give one star for postage cost a and despatch timing. Do you think it's a negative for sure then? Not had to give neg/neutral before.

I'd give neg feedback. £4 over on postage costs and they haven't replied to your email query!! That is poor.

Maybe message them again before leaving feedback just in case.

yes definitely leave a neg - and 1 star for comms too. A neut makes no odds, a neg does though.

The stars don't really make any difference, it is the feedback that counts. I would contact them for a partial refund if they say no then definitely leave negative feedback!

the stars DO make a massive difference! Low stars and seller non performance mean a seller can lose their account.

A postage profit of £4 is completely ridiculous, particularly as you say it wasn't even signed for and took 5 days to arrive. If they haven't replied to your email or given you a partial refund I would leave negative and low stars on postage costs, comms and despatch time.

You should always ask for a fix before leaving neg-neutral f/back. Ask them for a refund. If they are unsympathetic then leave whatever fb you think is right. But give them a chance to fix the problem.

Ok I'll message again if no reply will leave feedback. I won't open a case as overall I'm pleased with item. I would have still bid at a £5 starting price with lower postage so they would have got more that way. I'll be more careful of checking if postal prices were realistic or not.

there isn't any point opening a case anyway - ebay won't force a partial refund.

I agree that the P&P was wrong here. They should have done £5 start with a reasonable P&P but perhaps they don't understand that. I agree with LLjkk give them a chance to fix first. Low stars do severely impact sellers so don't leave them lightly. If they don't bother replying then fair enough leave what you feel appropriate. If you are happy with the item then I think a neutral with mention of the P&P is more appropriate although I agree the service does appear poor. To me a neg would be about a very poor item.

still no reply. will give them until tomorrow morning and then leave feedback. I've not asked for a refund, just an explanation as o why they have charged £5
