Potential bidder wants to know my exact postcode?

I feel a bit strange about it, not sure why. They say they want to work out distance but I have given them town and first three digits of postcode. I am sure they can work out approx distance from there, but they have come back and demanded full postcode?

I can't see the scam but also can't see why they need it?

What do you think?

the first part of post code and town is more than enough. don't give it to them if they dont like it then tough

No, do not give it to them. If they win the bid, then they get it.

He/she is being a pushy prick.

The village near me and the bigger town in the opposite direction both share the same three first letters. Quite a bit of distance between the two, at least 6 or 7 miles out.

Do you think they may want to pin point the location?

Your could give them the next digit, but I can understand if you don't want to.
You could reply with 'the exact address will be giving to the winning bidder'.

In rural areas "XY1, Anytown" doesn't narrow it down much. That type of information for my area could be an area about 7 mikes x 5 miles.

Tell them you don't give it for security reasons but do you know a shop or something very close (Tesco round the corner etc) so you can give them that postcode for the distance?

Thanks everyone. Have just said only giving first three digits of postcode and general details of area! Will leave it at that!

Ask the bidder of they feel comfortable giving you their postcode and you'll calculate the distance for them. Just remember to give them both the toad distance and the as the crow flies distance, just in case they want to argue the point if they win.

There is an easy way of finding out a sellers postcode

is it a pick up item - if so don't let them pay paypal and don't let them organise their own courier.

theres really nothing wrong with asking for the full postcode,i ask all the time,i just want the exact location and want to know how far it is and the 1st 3 digits are to vague.

If it’s for a collection item then give them the postcode so they know if they can get there.
If it’s not collection then your postcode is none of their business.
