eBay

Is it worth doing anything? If so, what?

I won an auction for a buggy with accessories last week. I wasn't so bothered about having the accessories but bid a bit extra thinking that i could put the bits I didn't want back on eBay and recoup the money that way.

I collected it all, had a quick demo from the seller and went on my way.

The actual buggy is fine and as described so I left positive feedback.

One of the accessories was described as BNIP so I didn't check it until I was getting ready to list it on eBay and have now realised that it's not for the model of buggy that it was described as. So, I was expecting to get approx £15/20 for it but now I know it's for a different model, it'll maybe only get £5 if it gets any interest at all.

As I have already left FB, I'm not sure if it's worth contacting the seller because I don't know what, if anything, they could do.

Any suggestons?

the fact you have left feedback is irrelevant - the item is not as described, so yes I would contact the seller

did you pay cash or paypal?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm just not sure what is reasonable to ask them to do. I paid cash on collection.

what do you want, some of your money back?

Yes, I suppose I do but is that unreasonable? Also, I don't know how it would be done (if seller agreed) given that I paid in cash. It was a fair distance so not sure if it'd be worth my time/petrol for me to go over there for a partial refund.

well it is worth emailing them saying what they say - they could always post you a cheque

ebay won't do anything seeing as you paid by cash, but they wouldn't give a partial refund anyway, they would just tell you to return tracked for a full refund if you had paid by paypal. I suspect the seller will say you checked it when you bought it so probably won't give you anything back.

You can leave follow up feedback if you want to.

Thanks for the advice, fergoose. Seller has sent me a partial refund via PP and told me to stick the accessory on eBay Smile.
