eBay

Paying by PayPal for a collection item

I was watching an item in my home town and asked the seller before the auction ended if I could collect it instead of having it posted.

Seller agreed and I won the item and have messaged them about collection times but they have asked that I pay by PayPal first.

Now I am happy to do this as long as they don't expect me to still pay the postage charges but I didn't think this was 'safe' for them.

I don't quite know what to do.

It's risky for them, you could say that the item didn't arrive and eBay would automatically refund them because they've no proof of purchase. They mustnt be a very experienced seller.

Otoh it's safe for you.

Oh and don't pay for postage either.

Thanks thats what I thought about the ability to claim a refund, not that I ever would.

I've just checked it and it was them who requested collection only, I was getting confused with another item, so there isn't any postage showing.

Another thing, what happens if when I pay on collection the seller doesn't mark the item as paid? I have several items that I have already collected, paid for and given feedback but they still keep flagging up for payment.

you just mark it as paid yourself and then delete it from your won items

And the seller is v stupid refusing cash and wanting paypal
